Savory not Salty

I was talking with my friends, and I said, “I’d like to eat something salty.”

My friends started offering chips, pretzels, crackers, and similar things.

I said, “That’s not what I want. I want something tasty and salty.” (I’m not a big fan of the food they mentioned.)

Then, my friend said, “Well you can have a glass of water mixed with salt.”, and started laughing.

I looked at him with my “Joice face”—Some friends say that I have a characteristic face when I don’t like something. It’s called the “Joice face”—and I said, “Nah!”

Another friend said, “Joice, I think that what you want to say is savory food.”

After googling it, I said, “Oh Yeah. This is exactly what I was talking about. Yummy!”

According to The Free Dictionary: “ ‘Savory foods’ are flavorful but not sweet.” On the other hand, “salty food” normally is used to refer to chips, pretzels, crackers, popcorn, and similar things.

This picture below will give you an idea of what savory foods are. Definitely, it is not a glass of water with salt. 😬
