I'm "in" a bonfire with friends...

This was the beginning of a conversation with a friend on Saturday Night:

J: Hi!! I'm in a bonfire with friends in Mission Bay :)
X: You were in a bonfire in Mission Bay? How bad did you get burnt? Was the water cold?
J: Hahahahah I was not inside of the bonfire dãm.... Ok, I get it. How should I say that?
X: Oh, you said in it :) You should say at... So, you were at a bonfire at mission bay, unless you were swimming
    J: Oops! hahahhaha

Maybe that could happen if I were a witch living in the inquisition period! 😜
Prepositions I love you!!
